2A Barbeque Cancelled

The title says it all. I had no choice but to do this due to the amazingly slow response from more than a dozen people. To people who had answered me, sorry for disappointing you, because the barbeque pits available for the 20th of December are all fully booked. I understand some of you had been overseas, so it's not your fault for not answering me, but for those of you who had received simon's or my sms asking you to visit my blog for information while you were not overseas, and you didn't bother to take a look at my blog, then I would say I'm not very happy with you, I'm kind of disgusted in fact.

But I will try to organise another gathering, this time it's either another barbeque maybe on the 27th of December or 3th of January 2009. If you are planning to ask me why must the barbeque be on weekends, it's because people are working on weekdays and some people have to go to their church on sundays, so the barbeque has to be on a saturday.

Or we can have a chalet at Fairy Point Chalet 1, which is the same chalet that we have been to for our 2A chalet when we were in secondary 2. There are three free slots on the 19th, 20th, and the 21th of January 2009. Each person may need to pay $20 for the chalet. If you don't mind being isolated from the rest of world for that three days in exchange for more activity space, then this is a good choice.

Or we can have the chalet at Sea View Terrace, which is the chalet we went to when we were in Secondary one, there are free slots on the 13th, 14th and the 15th, and also from the 19th to the 22th of January 2009 and each person may need to pay $24, and it's more convenient here because there's shops and parks around the chalet but maybe a little less space however it's still enough for 40 people, so can you please leave me a comment on which type of gathering do you prefer and tell me if you will be free on the date of the gathering. Thank You!

A look back at Kranji

I thought this was a must-have post, so here it is, let us take one more look back at Kranji Secondary School, the place where we spent 4 years in.

Secondary 1 (year 2005)

I believe most of us must have remembered me in this year as the quiet, matured boy in 1A. Haha , turns out people see the real me in Secondary 2. I remember the first few days of school, I felt really unhappy because I have no friends and I still miss my primary school friends. I remember there was this making friend thing where you draw a name from a box then you must go and get to know that person. I got Yun Hui in the end, and being lazy to search for this stranger at that time, I actually raised my voice and asked who is Yun Hui. Haha I must say that was rather daring of me, kind of weird though...then of course I got to know Yun Hui first, but I couldn't remember our first conversation.

Then it was in this year too that I first took up a leadership role in the class. I was appointed one of the In-Charge for the class decorating competition along with Yun Hui, Li Ying and my best friend at that time, Chin Seng. I remember I was a rather mean In-Charge, I had a really bad temper (or in fact, weird) at that time, and I wasn't capable of controlling my temper at that time. Well, I must admit I'm not a nice partner to work with at that time, which is why I always quarrel with Chin Seng over little things, but we were all childish young kids at that time.

I remember Chin Seng and I were rather good friends with Yun Hui, li Ying, Wan Lin and Yu Tze as all of them sits in front and behind us. And I remember I use to tell them how happy I was when I saw my primary school crush in the morning. And I remember Yu Tze was a crazy girl who laughs at everything. And there was once when Yu Tze laughed till her stomach aches when we doing project in the library!

Secondary 2 (Year 2006)

And this is the year when I became the controversial guy of the secondary 2 level and of 2A. Offended quite a lot of people I must say, but it was a fun year. I remember the "blog war" between Yu Xuan and a few others against me. Well, you have to admit I won that war, right Yu Xuan? Alright Alright, I admit I had some help from my sister, and it was a rather fierce quarrel, and I admit I was rather disturbed at times, don't feel good with people saying I was being mean or I don't understand "Love" . Speaking of that, I still think none of us has really understand Love at our age, in fact Love is rather hard to understand you know.

And it was during this time I earned myself a hate blog, which was unique to me! None of you had one right? Haha! And I got myself a few standard visitors of my blog, and I was rather famous (or infamous) in that year, I remember Simon telling me that his badminton teamates asked him who was Vernon because they have heard of my blog.

But I must say this year was the peak of my creativity, I was pretty proud of several ideas I had to make fun of people (mostly bimbos), there was my blog posts, copying of MSN nicks names that sounds bimbotic, and the Voting system I had on MSN.

Other than irritating bimbos, I think I became addicted to irritating people, that I started irritating people who sits around me. The particular person that I remember I irritated the most was Min Yan. Well, I must say she's pretty unlucky, to be sitting beside me when I'm in the peak of my irritating nature and I was kind of surprised coming to think that she had never lost her temper on me, and I would like to say sorry, and thank you for tolerating me for so long. And I believe I have hurt some people's feelings when I was being irritating, and I would like to apologise here and this also serve as a reminder, that you should think of other people's feelings when you joke.

Definitely I wouldn't forget the big event of the year, which is the Cultural Fiesta when 2A won the Folk Dance competition, dancing to the song "Pretty Woman" . I use to squeeze the hand of my partner , Felicia, whenever we hold hands to enter the music room for practice. Don't ask me why I did because I don't know, but I remember Felicia was a strong girl (and a good dance partner), my hand really hurts when she squeeze my hand back. Well, I must say thank you for tolerating with the childish me for so long.

And on the performance night itself, my jeans was too big for me even when I wore a belt, so I had to pull up my pants every once in a while when I dance. It was ugly, seriously. But our costumes for the night was really nice, with our class tee over our uniform for the boys, and class tee with a light brown skirt for the girls. And I especially like the idea of having a fake rose in the mouth of the people dancing the male part!

Then other classes became unhappy that we won the competition and this sparks off the "blog war 2" , then for the first time in history, the bloggers of 2A unite and fought back. This was such a touching moment, and I will definitely miss those times. But don't mistaken me! I don't want a "blog war 3" , I'm glad with the current peaceful, happy times.

It was also in this year when we had the best 2A Chalet, and I am sure that this is the best year of my secondary school years.

Secondary 3 (Year 2007)

This is the year when the school see the rise of the Brothers United. The group consist of the 2A boys, but of course we don't go around fighting la, we just stick together and play basketball together. Then there is the F.U.C.K (sorry for the name!) group in NPCC. I was the U, and my nickname was Usher, Chin Seng is Francis, Wei Chang is Chris and Shun Yu is Kay. And this year witnessed the downfall in my results, because I think I played too much in this year.

I would say this is the year when I participated in the most sports activity, because being with the Brothers United, everyone was good in sports, and I was the only one who's not good in sports, so I had to catch up. And I must say thank you to Dexter, my best friend of this year, he taught me a lot, no matter in sports or in schoolworks.

I wouldn't say I like this year, because some of things I did in this year was obviously wrong, I was a little over confident and it took me more than a year to realise I was wrong, but yes, this is definitely a very memorable year.

Secondary 4 (Year 2008) till now

I would say this is the year when I like myself the most because I was myself again. This is the year when I had quite a lot of new experience, I took up a leadership role in NPCC, I found my passion for the sport Football, and a few other very special experiences, and I must say thank you to every single friend of mine for giving me a wonderful memories for the last year of school in Kranji.

In particular, a teacher that I must thank, is Miss Foo, my NPCC Teacher Officer. She had given me a lot of chances and she had made me believe in myself, I would say she have made an impact in my life, and I will like to thank her for that. Thank you very much, Miss Foo.

Lastly, I must thank all the teachers for helping me, and some teachers who have never taught me before had also helped me in my studies, so for that, I promise I will be back in Kranji for Teacher's Day.

Alright! And this sums up my life in Kranji Secondary School! But if you're feeling sad after reading my post, don't be, because we will meet one another again! So it's goodbye for now!

2A Barbeque outing 2008!!!

Alright people of 2A'06, there will be a barbeque outing on the 20th of december, at East Coast Park, and there will be an exchange of christmas presents, so can everyone who's coming bring a present of below $5? And can you please leave a comment for me on whether you can make it on that day? Thanks a lot for your coorperation, this is urgent because I haven't book the BBQ pit and there's only three barbeque pits left for the day, so please tell me if you can make it to the BBQ on that day as soon as possible!

I watched High School Musical 3! AHHH!!!

What's wrong with me?! I actually watched High School Musical 3 in the cinema! Am I becoming a real himbo? Am I going to become one of those teenagers who go crazy over the movie saying, "Gabriella is so sweet!!!" , or "Troy is so cool!!!". Am I mad? Am I suffering from some kind of illnesses?

But the answer was actually I'm just desperate to go out la. My sister and I wanted to watch "Sing To The Dawn" , but the reviews that we have read about the movie was that it was a flop. I heard the story is rewritten by a ang moh, and obviously it wasn't well written. I believe most of you must have remembered reading the book for our literature lessons. I must say I'm really disappointed when I read the reviews, they had to destroy such a wonderful story by making it's movie so lousy.

And so as I was desperate to go out, we had to make do with High School Musical 3, since the reviews are pretty good. Turns out, it's indeed pretty good. The plot was alright, the songs are not as recognisable as the first episode, except for "Now or never". But the show was pretty cheerful, I enjoyed watching it I must say. So for people who are looking for something to help you past time or to cheer yourself up, maybe you can consider watching High School Musical, but I remember the first episode was the best one if you want to cheer yourself up, because the whole show was very energetic, it makes you feel good.

Lastly, I think I'm losing confidence in Singapore cartoons, because so far the companies have not failed in disappointing us, time and time again they say the cartoon is going to be good, and time and time again either the graphics sucks or the plot sucks, but most of the time they come in a set. I hope they can start producing some quality cartoons.

Kranji Graduation Night 2008

Well, I guess this officially ends our secondary school life. I had some difficulty sleeping for the past two days, because the song "Graduation" by Vitamin C keeps playing in my mind, then images of the graduation night keep popping up in my mind. Sounds a little dramatic, but it did happen. Alright here's a summary of yesterday's big event at Orchard Hotel.

Yesterday was the first time in my life that I took more than an hour to get dressed up and do up my hairstyle. I wore long sleeves with jeans and sneakers, while my mum and my sis helped me with the hairstyle. I got to the hotel with my friends, and went up to the ballroom on the third floor, and the image of a sea of well-dressed Kranjians greeted us. I started taking photos of the surroundings and with some of my friends. And then I got my first and only compliment of the night from Shu Fen for my hairstyle when we were waiting outside the ballroom for the dinner to start.

If I got compliments, then I believe I have to give some too. I must say all the 2A'06 girls looked very chio (I seldomly say this, you must appreciate it haha), and almost all of them looked like grown ups, for the 2A'06 boys some of them had their hair dyed, but all of them looked good, for the 4E'08 I didn't manage to take a good look at all of them, but the ones that I saw looked good in their costumes. Actually the choice of dresses for the ladies were mostly about the same style, same goes for the gentlemen actually.

However, the food that the hotel provides was not exactly up to my expectations. There was the cold plate, then shark fin, then sour-sweet fried prawn, then abalone with vegetables, Fried chicken(or duck I'm not sure because it's too random) with prawn crackers, fried noodles, steamed fish and the weird dessert. I think the best dish was the cold plate, with the salad prawn, and a few other dish, the shark fin was random as I have never liked shark fin, and thanks to timothy my shark fin was spicy due to the extra dose of pepper he put in my shark fin. Then for the sour-sweet fried prawn the waiter gave me only one prawn while others got two, and he gave me the leftover green pepper and tomato(what the hell!), but the taste was just average, then the abalone, thanks once again to the waiter who helped us divide the dish, I got only a piece of abalone and extra large portion of vegetable. The other dishes was just plain random, and the dessert tasted like badly prepared chawanmushi with raisins in it, it was...well, weird.

And the service of the hotel was not very good, the waiters looked like they were in bad mood and they would take away plates with food that we have yet to finish. The performances was good, the emcee was professional, the entertainments went on smoothly, there was a few competitions like guessing the soundtracks of movies, the most sexy boy disguised as bollywood stars, and the Prom King and Queen and also lucky draws, which was successful thanks to the sporting participants.

The ballroom looked classy, pretty good atmosphere I must say. The mood throughout the event was rather happy actually, the sad part same only later on when we knew it was time to leave. We shouted Yum Seng thrice (which I shouted at the top of my voice) and then there's was the disco part, when they started playing all the hip hop music and turning on the blinding bright colourful lights that you see in clubs. Maybe because they realised that the people are leaving, they turned to playing the song "Graduation" by Vitamin C. I admit I sang along, and this was the part when the sad feeling starts to come up in me. And the sad feeling starts coming up in me now that I'm typing this part of the post. I wouldn't say the event was the best, but it was a very special one, and I would like to remember it forever.

But no matter how much we wish time could stop, life have to go on, there are still dreams to pursue, still many things in life that we have yet to go through. It's a long way for all of us. And I thereby wish everyone one in 2A'06, 4E'08 and all kranjians, a smooth sail in life, and the best of luck to everyone in your studies and in the future and may you all achieve your dreams and find your perfect soul mate and lead the perfect lifestyle that you have always wanted in life and live happily ever after!!!

And I would like to share two sentences that I have always kept to and believed in in my daily life, and I hope this two sentences can help you in your future too.

Impossible is nothing.

Moving on...next stage

Yes people, That Munkified Blog is back in the business! Sorry for making it private for so long, if the last time you visited my blog it was already private, maybe you can read my archives starting from June, I had a few new posts when my blog was still private. I'm sure quite a lot of people must be feeling glad that the O levels is over. But it was a rather different story for me.

Actually all I felt was relief after my last paper, not exactly happy. As I took a look at the hall, my classmates, the corridor, I realised I have never taken a good look at them even though I see them almost everyday. I felt lost in fact, knowing that my four years of secondary school life was coming to an end. It wasn't exactly a wonderful four years of life in Kranji, but this weird feeling just keeps coming up in me, I miss the school, I miss my friends, I miss going to school early in the morning, sitting alone in the parade square, enjoy the cool air in the morning (not including the lessons part though!)

For many of us this is the time when we're moving on to the next stage of our life, and many of us will move on ever so quickly, without taking a look back, I wouldn't say that's bad, but at times do slow down your pace, and take a good look at people or things that are around you.

For those who realised by now that you've neglected friends or teachers who have been with you for years, this monday's Graduation Dinner is your best chance to take a good look at them. I'm going to take a detailed look at everyone on monday, and stored their looks in my memory.
