Long time no blog

Hello people! Sorry for taking so long to make a new post, because i have been rather busy lately and life's been random so I can't find much things to blog about. So here's a little update on what have been happening recently.

It was the first time I been through a interview for financial assistance. I didn't know we actually had to go through interviews for financial assistance. I was asked about how I manage my pocket money and how much I would expect the school to give me for the whole year. Considering my sister used to get $80 per month from Millennia Institute, I requested for $800 for the whole year. But I was told they can only give me the maximum of around $400. Well it either the economic recession had something to do with this or the school itself have some problem...

Then they asked me about my CCA in secondary and seems rather impressed with how I was the discipline master of the NPCC Unit. They were suggesting maybe I could be the Captain of the school's Soccer team.

But that's not going to happen soon, because I was told that I needn't report for soccer trainings for the next two weeks by my teacher-in-charge. They only took in people who are good enough into the school team for the National Competiton coming up this following week. He said my trainings will start after the competition and I'll be training for next year's school team. Well but there's only 4 JC 1 boys who are not taking into the team.

Yeah I know I sound loser-ish, and I'm currently taking a break from soccer for 1 week. Next week I'm going for the trainings. I guess this is sports, you have to work hard for a place in the team and I'm going to work for it.

In soccer I always find things that people say inspiring, like the referee who's on good terms with my team's coach, said on that day when I played the last 10 minutes of the friendly match against Hwa Chong JC (we lost the game 0-2). He looked at me and showed me a thumbs up. He said: "Continue to play hard and you'll get it". I think I will.

Official start of lessons in Anderson

Sorry people, for taking so long to update. I felt the sudden urge to blog after reading a post on Elaine's blog about whether will friends still stay in touch in one another after moving on JCs or Poly, we will definitely have less time together, but this I promise you people, that 2A will still have gatherings.

Meanwhile I figured out that the best way for friends to keep in touch is actually to read one another's blog, so here I am, blogging about my life in Anderson. Alright, to continue from my previous post, the Football match against Catholic JC didn't really happened because we played for 7 minutes and we have to stop due to the lightling. My teacher-in-charge allowed me to start for the match but it was raining very heavily after only 7 minutes, and the lightling alert siren sounded and we had to stop. The game was cancelled eventually after waiting for more than a hour.

The scoreline when the game ended was 0-1, with my side conceding an own goal. It was a miscommunication between my captain and the goalkeeper, and my captain accidentenally headed the ball into the net. He was extremely sad after the game, it's amazing how the outcome of a sports competiton can affect someone so greatly. I was playing an average game too as the Left-back. But we had another game on that friday against First Toa Payoh Secondary School.

The reserves team played for the first half and the main team played the second half. I was allowed to play the entire first half as the right-back. I got to the ball for a few times but I was warned by the referee. He went over to tell me, "the way you are marking people is very risky, the moment you take him down and it's a straight red card for you, the way you mark people is rugby, not football.".

He had a smile when he told me that, I told him sorry and we played on. I guess maybe I had too much body contact with the guy I was defending against, I guess it's just something that I'll have to learn in Football. We went on to win the game 2-0.

Anyway Anderson JC got into the Finals of the North Zone Soccer Competiton and they will play aginst Serangoon JC next wednesday (or Friday).

Alright enough of Football, let's move on to other things. Last tuesday I went back to Kranji to discuss the NPCC unit camp plan with Miss Foo and Min Yan and Elaine was there too. It was nice to talk to them and I met a number of my teachers too. Then we were allowed into the teacher's room to get some materials, and this is when the fridge in the refreshment room caught my eyes.

It's not everyday that you'll get to go into the teachers room, let alone seeing what's in the fridge in the teachers room. So I decided to explore a little and opened the fridge. I was greet with a sea of random stuff, from unknown dubious plastic bags to Mcdonald's curry sauce and many others.

Then Min Yan drew my attention to the words written on the notice board in the refreshment room. it says, Thought of the day: Set a reasonable common test. It wonderful that kranji has all this teachers with a sense of humour.

Then there was this morning when I was taking the MRT in the morning to school, then an uncle of around age 60+ came in, there was no more free seats, so I let him have my seat. I stood up and told him in english, "Uncle, take a seat.", then he looked at me in confusion. I realise he might not know english and so I quickly switched to chinese and asked him to take the seat.

Call me an asshole. I thought to myself, "Just a few weeks in Anderson and what the hell are you turning into? A bloody Amercian Borned Chinese?! Look at the old man! He's just minding his own business there and what did you do? You spoke english to him like you're some stupid bloody english-educated scholar!"
