NPCC ATC Camp!!

Last Friday I went for my first ATC (Adventure training camp) at pulau ubin and today I'm finally back from the 3 days 2 night camp. We had to travel for around a hour on bus and then get on a boat to get to pulau ubin. After landing on pulau ubin, we had to walk a pretty long distance to get to the campsite. When we finally got to the campsite, we had to wait for other schools to get there.
There was the schools around the Choa Chu Kang area and plus another few more schools but I can't remember any of them except the Cresent' Girls school. I must say they're really man~

The first day, we have to pitch our own six-men tents and as we were pitching the tents, insects were already getting into our tents and all the insects there were "up-size". The biggest insect I saw there was a Praying Mantis, it's around 2/3 the size of my hand. We were given rations like canned curry chicken, baked beans, sardine, pineapple, biscuits, milo and instant noodles which have to be cooked by ourselves if we want to eat. It was stuffy in the tents and most of the people hardly got any sleep on the first night.

The second day, we had quite some activties to complete. First, we had to learn some knots and lashings, then play games with "shields" we made from poles and twine, but most of the time I'm using what my sir Shafiq call "eyepower", because I haven't learn lashings. After that we have to find places on the island using map and compass and lastly we had our adventure training which includes a maze, where it's dark and the sirs there will tell you that "stories" were often heard about this maze, then when your group is moving through the "flooded" maze, someone will suddenly on a torchlight to scare us and you'll realise that it's actually the sirs. Then there was Low Ropes and Rock Climbling which I managed to complete. At night, we had campfire and performance from all schools and then it was free-time and lights off at 2 am.

The last day, we had to un-pitch our tents and area cleaning, which my group and another group was unlucky enough to get the toilets. After that there was the grand finale when the best camper award was given out and it was time to go home.

I counted the number of mosquito bites and the highest record was 21 on my entirely left arm. Even though all of us had scoldings and punishments, but I still enjoyed some parts of the camp.

The funniest survey feedbacks

What's people opinion of lectures? It must a boring period when a lecturer or someone talks about something. However, there's a lecturer in NTU who shared the funny results of the surveys that his "older' students had written with his present students. I must say it was the funniest video I had seen. Be patient...the best part is at the middle.
He must be the most entertaining lecturer!

MSN trends

I'm sure almost everyone have a MSN account. MSN is used for chatting with friends or even making friends, but some are using MSN as a way to show that they are in love or something. Sometimes, I believe they must be a very experienced bunch of secondary school teens.

Here are some examples of typical "lovely" MSN nicks.

Nowadays, other than this "lovely" trend in MSN, there's another type of trend, which is the "Goong" trend. Yes, yes I watch the korean show "Goong" (Princess Hours) too, yes yes and I like the show too, but now all the bimbos are putting things like "Goong simply rox" or "Princess hours rawks" in their nicks and change their display pictures to pictures of characters in the show.

Some even change their blogskin to be filled with "Goong" pictures and playing the song "Perhaps Love" (what about the other slower song that's always featured in the show too called "Dang Shin Eun... Na Neun Ba Bo Ib Ni Da" by Stay?) How come in the last few months I don't see a "Dae Jang Geum" trend?

Now...the following picture you're going to see might just be the next hottest display picture in MSN.

Come on! change it as your display picture! Let's call it the "Prince Vernon" Trend!

Banned commercials

Everyday we see commercials on TV but have you ever wondered whether there were any commercials that were banned? If you go to Youtube and type in "banned commercials", you can find loads of banned commercials, some of them are funny, while quite a number of them is related to sensitive issues. After my "filtration", I found some funny ones, and here they are.

1. Actually the first one simply eliminates the need of having so many sexual education workshops. (just joking, they don't work all the time alright!)

2. The second one teaches us never think you're alone as long as you're in public.
3. This one's kind of insulting, and I think the company which made this commercial were sued or something.
The following few videos are not banned commercials, but they are funny and cute videos of babies caught on video which my sister found.

Get yourself ready, the following few videos may have the most evil laughter that you have ever heard in your life (well, at least the most evil laughter you've heard from babies).

Shut up, little brats!

Every sunday morning, 10:30 am, there's a show named "My Mighty E-Bot" which is a kid show, but I sometimes watch it because I need some sound when I'm eating breakfast. I must say the producer or whoever found the little actors for this show really don't know how to choose actors, because all of them have faces that irritates people. I can't get the picture of them, so maybe you want to try watching it on sunday morning.

Speaking of kids that irritates people, every wednesday 8:30 pm, there's a show named "Scissors, Paper, Stone". It's a show where two family will exchange their childen for a weekend and in this show, you will find a lot of idiotic kids and little bimbos.

Being such a bimbo at such a young age is really sad and the following one is an perfect example of a little spoiled bimbo-ish brat. she must really count herself unlucky because I can only find photos of her and none of the other brats.

Look at that! what should I call that expression in the first photo as? Erm...bitchy behaviour? She's really bimbo and has really bad temper. If I'm the host of the show, I swear I'll slap her. However, she's not the worse case, there's a boy in the episode showing on the following week who's even bitchier as he kicked the host when she's trying to give him something. Sadly I can't find his photo, so maybe you would want to watch it yourself. It is the episode showing on 18 October Wednesday, 8:30 pm.

North Korea:The real life animal farm

I remembered studying the storybook "Animal Farm" for my literature lessons in the first half of the year. The story was about a bunch of animals in a farm fight back as the owner of the farm is mistreating them and they took the pigs as their leaders. However, the leaders themselves bully the animals and even though they were sort of in a Communist state, they were not treated fairly and this situation just simply suits the one of the few remaining communtist states, North Korea.

North Korea was led by Kim Il-sung during the Korean War from 1948 until his death on July 8, 1994. Then, he handed over the country to his son, Kim Jong-il, who is the present president of North Korea.

After the Korean War, the country's economy grew greatly under Kim Il-Sung, but when his son took over, the country's economy dropped significantly and the lack of food developed in many areas. Aid Groups estimated that more than a million North Koreans starved to death due to famine and many escaped to china in search of food (as North Koreans are not allowed to go aboard)

The leader doesn't concentrate on solving the problem of the lack of food but instead concentrate on having huge military. North Korea have the world's fifth largest military with 1.08 million armed personnel and most of their money is spended on the military when simply no one is planning to attack them.

Many human rights organisation accuse North Korea of having one of the worst human rights records of any nation, restricting almost all the freedom of the North Koreans (eg. freedom of speech, freedom of movement)

Ex-North Koreans testified that there are detention camps in North Korea and torture, starvation, rape, murder and forced labour can happen in those camps. An estimated of 2 million North Koreans has been killed by the government. A ex-prison guard said that chemical weapons were tested on the prisoners in a gas chamber and pregnant woman in the camps were either forced to have abortions or the new born baby will be killed but the government just refused to admitted this. North Korea's goverment was also involved in terrorist attacks in South Korea. Here are some accounts given by ex-North Koreans or prisoners. It may cause some discomfort.

1. This girl named Kim Myong Suk, 20, was a prisoner in North Korea and she was pregnant. One day, a guard came to her and asked her to have a abortion herself, when she refused, the guard started kicking her in the stomach and beat her up till she fainted. When she wakes up, she realised they had already taken the baby out from her body. Luckily, she escaped from North Korea with the help of some westerners.

2. This are some satellite image of some prisoner camps in North Korea. The left picture is the Haengyong camp and the one at the right is the Chunbong camp.

A ex-prisoner said female relatives of the male prisoners will be forced abort their children by pouring salty water into the pregnant woman's womb with a large syringe to kill the baby even though the woman is 8 to 9 months pregnant. If a living baby was delivered, the guards kick the baby and kill it.

Once, around 50 prisoners were taken to a room and given a piece of boiled cabbage to eat and after about half an hour later they began vomiting blood and died and the research supervisors enjoyed it and were even glad that the experiment was successful. A prison guard also often hear rumors about eyeballs being punched out. A prisoner was beaten up and his muscles were damaged and his bone were exposed to the outside and the inhumane guards put salt to his wounds.

Now they are planning to test the strongest type of bombs ever found, nuclear bombs. A nuclear bomb not only kills, it is also a very cruel weapon. Don't understand why? Here are some accounts given by the survivors from the bombing of Atomic bomb in Hiroshima in Japan during World War 2. It might once again cause some discomfort.

1. Miss Akiko Takatura survived the bomb and went out of the bank she was in during the bombing and she saw bodies all around. Finger tips of the bodies caught fire and the fire slowly spread all over the body. A light gray liquid dripped down their hands as they burn.

2. Mr Akira Onogi was at home during the bombing. When he came out of his house, he saw his neighbour's father almost naked and his skin was peeling off and was hanging from finger tips. Many injured people with peeling skin were crying out for help.

3. Miss Kinue Tomoyasu was at home during the bombing and after that she went out to look for her daughter. She finally found her beside a pond and she had maggots on her wounds and a sticky yellowish pus, a white watery liquid was coming out from her wounds. When she tries to remove the maggots, she couldn't as the skin was peeling off and after a few hours, her daughter died. Miss Kinue Tomayasu's hair also start coming off and she became bald.

So now we should know why the whole world is against the idea of them having nuclear bombs. Anyway, here's a video of life in North Korea. I believe it is "smuggled" out from North Korea.
